Dr. Simmons served as the Chief Resident of the Baylor College of Medicine Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship program.
Dr. Simmons has been Adjunctive faculty with the University of Texas- Houston Psychiatry program and has overseen training of resident psychiatrists.
Dr. Simmons currently volunteers to work with fellows at Baylor College of Medicince.
In 2008, Dr. Simmons participated in a national presentation at the annual conference of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Chicago with Drs. John Sargeant and Ayeshia Mian.
2005-2007 Relief Psychiatrist at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. During his time there, he was responsiblity for emergent assessments of adults and children. There was also a focus on crisis intervention.
2007-present Relief Psychiatrist at Neuropsychiatric Center (NPC) in Houston, Tx. He has worked with NPC facilitating emergent assessments.
2009-2012 Dr. Simmons was the medical director of two programs with Harris County MHMRA. He served as the medical director of the Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MCOT) where he supervised nurses, case managers, and therapists. He also conducted interviews in patient's homes all over Harris County, providing care for those who would have otherwise not had access. He served as the medical Director of the Crisis Residential Unit concurrently, where he was responsible for the supervision of medical services including psychiatrist and nursing services. This program provided residential psychiatric services and therapy for Harris County.
2012-2013 Deputy Medical Director of JSA Health Telepsychiatry. Dr. Simmons currently serves as the Deputy Medical Director of JSA Health Telepsychiatry providing psychiatric services to remote locations in the state of Texas. He also provides supervision of psychiatrists.
2014-Present Dr Simmons has served as a Program Director with Behavioral Hospital of Bellaire and Westpark Springs Hospital. He has also provided services as a psychiatrist with Houston Behavioral Hospital. He continues to maintain connections with these facilities.
